As you can see, I am quite a varied artist. I still do a lot of experimenting with different media; however, I am moving toward mixed media, a combination of printmaking, drawing/painting, and graphic design. Why do I have to choose one medium when I can combine my favorites into something I love and which best represents me and what I am trying to communicate? I am really trying hard this year to develop concept. I have spent years honing technical skills [which still require persistent use] but as a growing artist, I have realized how crucial it is to develop a style and concept. Most recently, I am attempting to work more in layers and with perspective to establish visible perspective and to make the viewer question unperceivable dimensions and spiritual connectivity. This is a complex assignment that I am still trying to wrap my brain around, but I am excited about the endless possibilities and artistic decisions that make for interesting visual compositions.
I studied abroad this summer for three weeks in Rome and Florence, Italy. It was a life-changing experience and I highly recommend it! In fact, I would recommend traveling and seeing as many places you can. I hope to travel many more places in the future.
Some of the influences in my art include: science [theology, astronomy, chemistry, anatomy/biology, physics, psychology], nature, illusion, surrealism, dreams/nightmares, Leonardo da Vinci, M.C. Escher, and Salvador Dali. I have also been looking more into Julie Mehretu and Tanja Softic.
Let me know what you think; I immensely enjoy hearing from my viewers. Also, ask about commissions and pricing information. I am easy enough to work with you. I am honored by YOU, the viewers of my gallery.
